[Smaug] Wine on Ubuntu password question

Aloha!

I'm running Wine on Ubuntu in order to run Procomm for Windows.

It's working well, but every time Procomm starts up Ubuntu says I need admin
privileges and asks for my password.

I'm not sure what's causing this, Wine or Procomm. I don't think I'm doing
anything that should require administrative privileges.

A friend suggested that I make the directory where the Wine executable is
installed as world executable.

This seems reasonable, but I don't remember Wine requiring a password to run
any old Windows program, which this solution implies.

Suggestions as to the cause or cure of this situation?
