Hi Folks,

I have special use privileges of a Geo-Dome and can arrange for Wireless

But we'd need someone to buy the pizza & drinks...:)

Perhaps smaug should look into aquiring the place in the interest of
establishing an appropriate venue.....?

Just a thought;)

Earlier, there was chatter about the owner of Santa Cruz Diner buying the
place. Everyone seemed happy about that.
He made an offer, there was a counter offer, and he gave up.

In general, it's sounded like the amount they want for the place is beyond
reasonable expectations.

There was a guy who was trying to get the regulars to put some cash together
and make an offer, but it never happened.

I'd approve. Shoot, I'd chip in a little and I don't even live in Santa
Cruz anymore.

Please do. Installed Ubuntu on my laptop aside of XP and so have the general
interest in the quirks. Have overcome some myself and it all works. What was
the wireless package you installed, is it something us Ubuntu users might
approach with caution?

Thanks,

I'm out of town till Monday evening, and don't remember the name of the
package - it's one that's supposed to enable automatic connection to APs
with DHCP. I also have the resolvconf package (which can rewrite an
/etc/resolv.conf file depending on what you're connected to). Anyhow
installing the package in question removed the ubuntu desktop package -
anyhow I'm weak on names of things being stuck with being on a dialup
WinDoze system at the moment 200 mi. from home.

More after Monday ... I'll have the laptop at SMAUG.
