[Smaug] X running slow?

Here's the VGA bit from lspci:
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: VIA Technologies, Inc.: Unknown device 3108 (rev 01)
Should I care that this (and several other devices) are
"unknown device"? ;-)
What next? Or is there something I should read to figure
it out myself?
