Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you Rick Moen.

Rick, if you want me to apologize about something in public, then go ahead
and beg me for an apology after this.

Here's a little hint about mailing lists, Rick. They tend to imply some
amount of time sensitivity. Comments to a thread work like TCP. They
generally are meant to fit into their position in that thread.

When I said that tar will do nicely to back up the site, I did not suddenly
imply that it was something we should've been doing for years & years. In
fact, I didn't even say that I was shocked that we hadn't been. In no
imaginable way (except in your little child's mind) did I say that we SHOULD
have been using tar all these years.

One day Rick, I'm confident you'll really pick up this reading thing and draw
out all the subtleties of context and what people are actually saying when
they post emails on a list like this.

In fact, some day, I think you'll read "Thanks" as an expression of gratitude.

Now, what I _DID_ say was that tar would serve quite nicely to back up the old
site in the case where Anthony really does create some complete piece of crap
that's actually worse for the *UG than David's site. Considering that Anthony
has only been with the group for 3 months at the outside and that he's only
seriously mentioned redoing the site in, say, the last couple of weeks, it's
really moronic of you to mention that I haven't done anything about the site
in years. It's completely off-topic in fact. Even a slashdot mod would have
removed that post.

This whole thread came up as a request for comments. We know how you feel.
Now, if you'd just come to the realization that this isn't 1920s Chicago and
no one's going to count your opinion, threats, predictions, or bluster as
anything more than a single vote.

I think I speak for the group when I say I've heard just about enough of Rick's
opinion. If I don't, then someone else can comment and I'll be happy to sit
aside and play the same games Rick and I always seem to get into when I'm
running a group.

By the way, Rick: "someone else" means anyone except you. Is that clear
enough for you?
