[Smaug] Informational interviews, career advice request

Hi,

I have been out of the loop for a couple years and am checking in again with the world
of Linux/unix.

Although I have several years of scattered personal experience with Linux and running
my own little ISP operation (since defunct), I have no 'real' job references or formal
education/training.

Currently I may have funding to take a UCSC extention coarse to get a certificate in:
Internet Security, Network Engineering and Management, or Unix System Management
& Administration.

I would like to get a cert in all three but have to chose one, any suggestions which I
should opt for? Prolly Net Mgnt. or System Mgnt. would be the way to go. Any reactions
to the idea a cert in these areas would improve my odds for finding like kind work?

Also, I will need to do some 'informational interviews' of folks already working in these
areas, any volunteers (I think we could do it via email)?

Thanks in advance!
