There is a place in Capitola which is renting out search lights and rolling
out cookies in preparation for Mac OS X.2's release at 10:20.

Called Jaguar by some and Jag-u-wire by Jobs, I believe that this release is
our chance to publicize Linux for the 68k and Power PC.

I'd like to organize a campaign. Something on the order of picket signs or
free CDs. We can either be fairly militant or we can play the nicer,
informative approach.

In preparing for the last SlugLUG installfest, I found that most Mac users
with newer hardware were aware and excited about OS X, but knew woefully
little about other Unixes for PPC or 68k. This sounds a lot like the
situation with M$ circa 98 or so, when version 0.4^H^H^HWindows 98.

Especially when you consider that Mac OS X runs sendmail and has its users
convinced that sendmail is _perfectly_ secure (and never averaged a bug a
week in the not so distant past).

This email is mostly an attempt to discuss what we find repellent about OS X.
It's also me fishing around for some reaction as to who's interested in
helping me refine a plan of action.

Just because it's a Unix doesn't mean it's not a proprietary operating system.
