I would be most obliged, if you would do so.
The trouble ticket will probably be handled by Jacob Moorman, who's a
really good guy and something of a saint for handling the trouble-ticket
load he does. If it turns out that either (1) there was host downtime
they couldn't be bothered to inform the public about, or (2) CVS has
changed without notice to some different host, I'll be a bit annoyed.
I'm trying to be charitable, but suspect some major screw-up at the
corporate-hosting end. (I mean, I've done this uncounted times from the
client end, and haven't changed anything. That suggests something's
changed at the server end, but a search of site news turned up nothing
relevant.)
My /var/www/smaug/htdocs/CVS/Root file (automatically built, much
earlier) is:
:ext:rickmoen@cvs.smaug-web.sourceforge.net:/cvsroot/smaug-web
That's what cvs dereferences for $CVSROOT by default when you're in
/var/www/smaug/htdocs/ on the client host and say just "cvs update" (
(which you may recall from my error output, is what I tried first).
I also tried the full-length, highly explicit syntax just in case of...
I dunno... sunspots or something.
