I really suggest that you submit this to the kernel mailing list
yourself since those guys will probably want to ask questions.

You might want to add something in the crontab that makes
an "efsck_ext2" cure periodically (I would suggest < 1/2  of the
typical crash time).

It is very likelly you will end up doing that low level format ;-)
