I'm just finishing burning to CD the brand spankin' new Linux-Mandrake
8.1 Beta 1 "Raklet" release for x86 -- and will be bringing it to the
BayLISA picnic in Saratoga on Sunday, 12-5. (Note: NOT Saturday.)
Just the one copy, but I'll be able to help people install it, one at a
time.

Once again, the picnic information is at
http://www.baylisa.org/events/#spec

Information on the contents is at
http://www.linux-mandrake.com/en/test81beta1.php3 . Here are some
highlights:

o Rewritten Draknet (network configuration tool),
o New URPMI (package installer) and Software Manager
o Rewritten Mandrake Control Center with "LogDrake" front-end to
logfiles and "Drakinst" tool to do easy setup of auto-install
   disks.
o Rewritten HardDrake (disk partitioner).
o Rewritten PrinterDrake.
o Kernel 2.4.8 -- including support for ext3, ReiserFS, and IBM JFS
   journaling filesystems.
o KDE 2.2.
o GNOME 1.4.
o Evolution 1.0 beta 2.
o Nautilus 1.04.
o Mozilla 0.9.3.
o KDevelop 2.2.
o gcc 3.0 (and 2.9.6 default).

Please bear in mind that this is an EXPERIMENTAL version of
Linux-Mandrake. It's a beta, issued for debugging and test purposes:
If it breaks, you get to keep all the pieces.
