Thanks for the responses.
The "low level format (with errors detections)" is a very slow
process, this is why I was asking for a second opinion in case
there was some other way to fix this. It now looks that this is
the only way to go. Backing up is not a problem.
It makes sense that /hdc2 is in ide1, if forgot to start
counting from 0, I thought about that later today.
Feel free to reproduce the syslog material in the kernel
mailing list. I am not subscribed to that one. I will backup
the syslog messages in case someone ask for them.
