[SVLUG-Jobs] Python/Linux Developer needed - great Smart TV company in SF

Cognitive Networks is a series A funded startup in SF doing automatic
content recognition (ACR) on smart TVs.  I am the VP Engineering and am the
hiring manager.  I have been part of SVLUG since 1997 and a linux user
since late 1994.  Like a million other startups, we need solid software
engineers.  What's special about us?

We have two technologies:  one part goes into smart TVs (we are in every LG
smart TV sold now, in field trials with two more major TV vendors).  Our TV
client takes many video 'fingerprints' per second directly from the TV
frame buffer (so it does not matter what the video source was) and sends it
to our second technology which runs in the AWS cloud - many hundreds of
servers - that operates a video fingerprint database.  We 'ingest' live
broadcast (using a network of hundreds of servers across the country, with
several already in other countries) as well as from files (think major TV
networks fingerprinting their shows before they air).  We can lock in on
what a TV is watching within about 5 seconds and then trigger apps on the
TV.  These 'events' are tied to specific times in video where interactivity
is desired:  vote for this, schedule a test drive, buy this online, etc.
 All tied to the specific moment that a frame of video shows up on the TV.
 This lets us bridge the 'offline' world of TV to the online world.  We're
doing several million transactions per second at peak and we are expecting
to grow our traffic 10x in the next 3-6 months.  Located in SF at Mission
and Van Ness (likely to move to SOMA next year).  We're funded - DCM and
RVP - our VC board members are Jason Krikorian co-founder of Sling Media,
and Michael Lee, former CTO of Rogers Cable.  The team is about 15 strong -
so it's early days still.

So in a nutshell, we have huge real-time data, heavy math processing, many
hundreds of servers, and lots of big data analysis...  there's all sorts of
cool things in this system.

Here's the key points of what I'm looking for:

- outstanding in python
- extremely strong in linux and very comfortable  at the command line
- seasoned professional software developer - good with source control,
testing, etc
- understanding of REST technologies - bonus points for experience with
flask
- extra bonus points for experience with twisted python
- experience with automating AWS using the python boto library even sweeter
- experience with large data sets wonderful
- experience with SQL also wonderful
- a background in distributed or embedded systems highly desired
- experience with C a strong indicator of the kind of minds we seeks
