Are you ready to hit the ground running? In this highly visible position, the ideal candidate will join the team responsible for the entire management lifecycle of the systems and network making up the Baynote service: (this includes, but is not limited to) system capacity (CPU/memory) planning, systems design and integration, hardware / software / OS maintenance for both of our servers and storage systems, ongoing systems configuration management as well as ownership of all systems and storage in all data center facilities.
Responsibilities:

  *   Responsible for all aspects of the Baynote production data center services including servers, operating systems, storage, and supporting systems.
  *   Troubleshoot internal and external applications, hardware problems, operating system issues and work with new services on a daily basis.
  *   Formulate and implement monitoring, policies, procedures and standards relating to server and storage management.
  *   Ensure that all Systems Administration projects are documented-including design documents, ongoing status reports, and summary reports.
  *   Creates new initiatives; an integral part of the planning process for the future of the site.
  *   Periodically participate in a 24×7 on-call rotation.
Must haves:

  *   3 - 5 years' Linux Administration experience, 2+ years in a 24x7x365 high-volume environment.
  *   Demonstrated solid understanding of Linux/Solaris internals, performance tuning and general systems administration.
  *   Experience with high availability systems and storage solutions / architectures.
  *   Working knowledge of standard Unix infrastructure tools. (DHCP, DNS, NTP, SYSLOG, SSH, IPSec etc)
  *   Demonstrated understanding and respect of change-control process management
  *   Perl and/or shell scripting.
  *   Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Nice to have:

  *   Exposure to open-source infrastructure management and automation tools.
  *   Hands-on experience working with Firewalls and Load Balancers.
  *   Experience working with Hadoop or Big Data deployments.
  *   Quick learner (Clue++).
  *   Comfort with jumpstart/kickstart build environments.
