We have an opening for a Sr. Unix/Linux Admin with our Fortune 500 client based in San Jose, CA


Title:- Sr. Unix/Linux Admin
Location:- San Jose, CA
Duration:-  1 Year


Job Overview:

* HPUX (networking, kernel parameter & tuning, troubleshooting system & perf issues, package mgmt, patch mgmt)

* Linux (networking, kernel parameter & tuning, troubleshooting system & perf issues, package mgmt, patch mgmt.

* SAN storage technologies (like rdf, snaps, etc) preferably with EMC will be plus.

* Sound volume management skills preferably hp lvm will be plus.

* Clustering experience: HP MC/SG, GFS, Veritas Clustering and Oracle RAC on Linux.

* Basic level scripting (either shell or perl should be fine) but should be capable of understanding other shell scripts



Responsibilities:

* Good trouble shooting knowledge - OS and Hardware - This is very critical for the requirement.

* Please do not apply if you do not have strong troubleshooting experience as most of the questions will be scenario based and the contractor will be asked various questions involving the same.

* Ability to work with users to detail service delivery requirements and system functionality

* Tasks include large system configuration, systems troubleshooting and design, high level problem analysis and tool design.

* Ability to order, configure and install equipment.

* Ability to repair, reconfigure and install servers/clusters

* Ability to work closely with DBAs, client teams and management ensuring that systems are managed per established service level agreements

* Ability to manage cases to resolution, refresh/copy databases using Unix commands & scripts

* Ability to multi-task, handle multiple projects, large and small with varying degree of complexity

* Ability to work under tight timelines and pressure

* Ability to work cross-functionally in a global team environment

* Be flexible in work hours to accommodate global teams and business needs



Primary Skills:

* Strong Experience in Unix

* Experience on EMC & NetApp storage products/tools is preferred

* Experience with LVM, VxVM, DNS, DHCP, NFS, HP Service guard & VMware
