Location: San Jose, CA

Summary of Position:
The senior Unix administrator is responsible for building and maintaining the core services provided to San Jose HUB and Test Environment machines.
A "typical day" will involve troubleshooting OS related issues, building packages required by engineering, creating puppet manifests to update machines, and pushing changes to the production environment.
The candidate must have 5+ years experience in administering and extending large enterprise class Linux / Unix environments.
Duties & Responsibilities:

 *   Mentoring other team members
 *   Support of San Jose hub environment
 *   Troubleshoot problems on engineering resources.
 *   Puppet manifest creation
 *   Release management
 *   Monitoring system configuration and tuning
 *   Red Hat Satellite server
 *   Kickstart and provisioning new machines
 *   Serial console terminal servers
 *   Netboot configurations
Required Skill set:
The successful candidate will have knowledge in the following areas.

 *   Puppet, and centralized configuration management best practices.
 *   Release management, and software lifecycle.
 *   GIT, CVS, ClearCase
 *   Linux Terminal Server (example: NoMachine)
 *   Red Hat RHEL 5, SuSe 10/11
 *   VMware ESX
 *   Kickstart, and machine provisioning best practices.
 *   Ruby, BASH
 *   NAGIOS, and monitoring best practices (nice to have OP5 experience)
 *   VAS, NIS, AD, LDAP, Syslog
 *   Automounter
 *   RPM package creation and management
 *   Network troubleshooting skills (nice to have Cisco Nexus and IOS command experience)
 *   Firewall troubleshooting experience (nice to have Juniper experience)
 *   Strong interpersonal, and verbal and written communications skills
 *   Some MS Windows administration experience is desirable
 *   Administration of web applications written in LAMP
 *   NetApp NFS and iSCSI experience desirable
