We are looking for some company or independent consultants that have good experience with embedded and Linux and can help us in bringing-up and porting various subsystems to our platform.

Below is a list of skills/experiences. This is a 6+ mos. Contract.

The work will require a lot of kernel development for gluing Linux with our RTOS, exposing functionality of our proprietary HW blocks through standard Linux interfaces and optimizing them so that user level apps can work seamlessly and with sufficient performance.

1) basic skills: shell scripting &  utils (awk, grep, find, diff, patch, SCM (hg/git/svn/cvs), make)

2) basic development:
      a) gnu toolchain (disasm, compilation, libraries, linking)
      b) C/asm + some scripting knowledge (perl/python/ruby)
      c) debug techniques
      d) ELF files (executables, libraries, static/dynamic libraries, extra: interpretes + symbols: weak, constructors/destructors)

3) kernel development
      a) processes, threads - process startup/initialization, CRT, ABI
      b) synchronization (semaphores, mutexes, event flags, reader/writer locks; extra: cond variables), race cond.
      c) sockets/file descriptors (unblocking IO, poll/select/epoll, SIGIO), shared memory, pipes, signals
      d) Drivers (common types: FS, char devs/block devs, network, framebuffers)
         process <->  kernel interaction (syscalls, special files & filesystems)
      e) virtual memory, address spaces, execution context
      f) HW memory: caches, register space, io space, barriers, bus address, write/read reordering, NUMA
          - DMA (address spaces, address translation, DMA coherency)
          - MMU/IOMMU
          - alignment, padding
      g) interrupts/exceptions, interrupt handling (interrupt types), locking, spinlocks, semaphores, mutexes, deferred work, timers
      h) bootloaders

4) Linux kernel development subsystems/drivers (a+b+c+d - mandatory, e+f - lower priority):
    a) filesystem drivers, VFS
    b) USB drivers
    c) network drivers, Ethernet over USB
    d) Video: framebuffers/DirectFB
    e) Video for linux: v4l/v4l2, UVC/UAC
    f) Audio: ALSA, OSS

5) Linux user level (a+b - mandatory):
    a) Framebuffers
    b) Interprocess communcation (SysV IPC, dbus, RT signals)
    c) Qt embedded/Qtopia/Qt
