Magnum Semiconductor has an immediate opening for an
intermediate-to-senior Linux sysadmin in Milpitas.  This is a
permanent/full-time position with initial 2 month contract trial
period.

Note: I am not the hiring manager, nor in HR.  I am simply screening
candidates for technical qualifications.  Please respond to me via

Job / Environment Description:

Sysadmin for a few hundred hosts with a few hundred users.  Light
network admin duties (primarily Cisco).  Member of small IT staff,
must be flexible (handle the occasional Windows desktop request, VoIP
phone setup, network cabling issue, etc).  End-users are mostly
hardware and embedded software engineers located primarily in North
America and Asia.

Most servers are CentOS compute nodes.  Some RHEL, several
Debian/Ubuntu, some Solaris.  Many Ubuntu/CentOS/Fedora workstations
(different requirements for different customers/projects).  Primary
storage are NetApp Filers, OpenSolaris on x64, Linux, and a touch of
iSCSI (Linux initiator, EqualLogic target).

Requirements:
    - Able to handle a fast-paced environment, and effectively manage
      your priorities.
    - Fluent in bash / bourne shell.
    - Comfortable with at least one of:  Python, Perl, Ruby, PHP.
    - Experience uniformly deploying RHEL or CentOS across an array of
      servers.
    - In depth knowledge of NIS, autofs, NFS, DNS.
    - Participation in on-call rotation for 24/7 emergency response.
    - Must not be opposed to resolving an occasional Windows desktop
      issue.

Desired experience with:
    - Veritas/Symantec NetBackup, or similar.
    - Kickstart, including writing post-install scripts.
    - SGE (Sun Grid Engine), or Platform LSF.
    - Configuring/managing Cisco routers, switches.
    - FlexLM / FlexNet / (what's it called today?).
    - OpenLDAP, 389 Directory Server, or similar.
    - Microsoft Windows domains / Active Directory.
