The Company

The Team 


*	The Operations team is responsible for rapidly scaling a
sophisticated heterogeneous (Solaris/Linux) production systems
infrastructure.
*	 We are strategically building, scaling, and evolving management
systems and frameworks for a high availability, high growth
infrastructure.


The Opportunity


*	This Systems Administrator will be designing, building, and
operating systems run at scale for a rapidly growing heterogeneous
infrastructure.
*	Provide large scale data center expertise and deploy a high
availability multi-site infrastructure
*	Identify, resolve, and prevent existing and future system bottle
neck issues in one of the fastest growing production infrastructures on
the web.
*	Execute the build out of sophisticated systems and configuration
management frameworks
*	You will work on optimizing and continuously improving Ning's
infrastructure to support the growth of Ning's platform to 10 Million
networks and beyond.

*	Participate in an on-call rotation that will also provide
additional collaboration with QA and Engineering for coordinated code
releases.


The Qualifications


*	Minimum of 3 years experience building and managing a "lights
out" data center infrastructure consisting of 500+ servers/nodes
*	Experience in tools creation and application maintenance with
strong scripting in one or more of the following languages: Perl, Bash,
Shell, Python, or Ruby.
*	Deep rooted knowledge and experience administering and
configuring Solaris and Linux systems in a consumer facing web
application environment.
*	Expert command of TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, SMTP, DHCP, SNMP, LDAP and
other core systems administration protocols.
*	Experience setting up and managing various monitoring systems
such as Nagios, Ganglia, Cacti, Zenoss, etc.

*         Strong background in troubleshooting large scale, high volume
services with multiple dynamic components including web servers, SQL
databases, Java application servers, and LAMP environments .

 

*         B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent experience
