I am a Synaptics employee, in-house recruiter, asked to post this per the Director of Engineering & hiring manager who is also onsite at our headquarters based in Santa Clara. Synaptics is expanding our engineering department and we're building a new Linux development team from the ground up very quickly. We're looking for solid Linux gurus that are looking to stay challenged and can bring their expertise to the table.

Job Responsibilities:
We are looking for a software engineer to be part of our PS/2 touchpad
Linux driver team.  Development of the driver will take place at the
kernel and GUI levels.  Candidates should have development experience
in one or more of the following: Linux kernel programming and
architecture, Linux GUI development, Linux desktop management (KTL,
Gnome), setting up development environments.  Additional experience
working in the Open source community and interfacing with various
distributions is a plus.

*        Deliver clear, detailed functional design and technical
design specifications.
*        Participate in the design of the driver architecture.
*        Design and develop graphical user interfaces.
*        Develop applications that interact with the KDE and Gnome
desktop environments.
*        Design, development and testing of specific feature sets.

Required Qualifications:
*        MS/BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Computer
Engineering.
*        Excellent written and verbal skills.
*        High quality standards
*        A proven track record developing commercial software.
