Linux Systems Administrator (Redwood City, CA)

Outstanding Opportunity in Growing Company. Vindicia provides payment solutions
and credit card fraud prevention tools for Internet merchants selling digital
goods.

Summary: As a member of the growing IT Operations team, this position will work
closely with other members of the Operations team to provide 24/7 support to
keep our production and office environments on top shape. Our server
environment consists of 100% Linux running on various hardware configurations.
Our office users are running a mix of Windows, Linux and MacOS workstations and
laptops.

Roles and Responsibilities:
• Provide day-to-day configuration, monitoring, support and troubleshooting for
our production environment at remote data centers and on-site QA lab.
• Configure and install Linux, applications, tools and patches on production
servers.
• Deploy server and network equipment at multiple Datacenters.
• Resolve operating systems, application software, hardware and network problems.
• Respond quickly to outages as reported via email, telephone, and/or paging
from customers and internal monitoring systems.
• Adhere to PCI compliance guidelines and SAS 70 operation procedures.
• Configure and support Windows, Linux and MacOS X workstations.
• Maintain a growing Asterisk-based PBX/VoIP system.

Required Skills:
• 4 years of general IT experience with at least 3 year of Linux administration
experience.
• Windows, Linux and MacOS Desktop support experience.
• Understanding of Web and open source technologies.
• Ability to accomplish multiple projects under minimal supervision.
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs of computer and network equipment.

The following areas of expertise are helpful but are not required for this role:
• 2+ years of network administration experience, with emphasis on VPN,
fault-tolerant networking and security
• Datacenter deployment and service experience
• Systems Administrator-level experience of OpenVPN, OpenSSH, Postfix/Sendmail,
DNS/BIND, OpenLDAP, JIRA, Subversion/Perforce, LVM, MediaWiki/Twiki,
Argus/Nagios/Cacti, Samba, Iptables, centralized logging and advanced routing
on Linux-based routers
