Hello folks

 

One of my clients, another startup in San Mateo downtown is seeking a
Production Engineer.  Their CEO comes from Google after having worked there
as a Senior Director of Engineering.

 

Here are some details on the position.  We can discuss more details if you
are interested and a good match.  Other than this, the organization also
needs solid Software Engineers with solid CS fundamentals and prefer folks
with strong Linux and programming background.

 

The company has only 15 employees and their CEO comes from Google.
Relocation is ok within USA. H1 is also ok.  

 

Production Engineer

 

Generic details on position description

 

Ability to solve problems quickly and automate processes. 

A solid understanding of Linux operating system; understands paging and

swapping, inter-process communications, devices and what device drivers do,

filesystem concepts (inode, clustering, logical partitions), can use

performance analysis to tune systems. 

A solid understanding of networking/distributed computing environment
concepts;

understands principles of routing, client/server programming, the design of

consistent network-wide filesystem layouts. 

Ability to program in scripting languages (shell, python). 

Knowledge of Java is excellent to have.

Required Background

More than five years of previous system administration experience. 

Desirable Background and Skills

A degree in computer science is preferred. (Bachelors, Masters or PHD in

Computer Sciences)

Extensive programming background in any applicable language. 

Publications within the field of system administration. 

Appropriate Responsibilities

Designs/implements complex local and wide-area networks of machines. 

Manages a large, complex site or network. 

Works under general direction from senior management. 

Establishes/recommends policies on system use and services. 

Provides technical lead and/or supervises system administrators, system

programmers, or others of equivalent seniority.
