Title: Senior Unix Administrator

Location: San Mateo CA

General Overview

The person will be part of the Enterprise Infrastructure Team that reports directly to the Manager of Information Technology. You would be expected to interface and work with other members of the team and the company who have different areas of expertise (NT/2000/2003 Administrators, Network Engineer, Remote Office Administrators, Helpdesk personnel, product developers etc). 

Designated responsibilities will include normal day-to-day operations of multiple UNIX based systems (Solaris, AIX, HP-UX, and Linux), backup Datacenter and other support areas as designated by the Infrastructure Manager. Some of the functions performed by this person will include supporting a large engineering staff with multiple operating systems on multiple platforms. 

There is a requirement of being On-Call and being readily available to assist the team during non-work hour's emergencies. 

Also, as we are an international company there may be times in which this position will have to work parts of weekends or outside normal work hours to assist the team in completing projects/emergencies that encompass our remote sites. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

*         Extensive AIX/HPUX/Solaris expérience. Solaris 2.5 to Solaris 8 preferred 

*         Experience with Linux System Administration (SUSE, RedHat ) in a production environment

*         Installing, configuring, updating, maintaining and troubleshooting multiple UNIX servers

*         Hardware diagnostic and maintenance

*         Unix, Linux system backup and recovery  

*         EMC storage array experience.  Configure and mounting volumes

*         Apache experience in an ISP or related field 

*         Oracle installation and system performance tuning 

*         NFS and NIS in an Enterprise Environment 

The following skills will help set you apart from others:

*         NT Server/2000/2003 Active Directory experience

*         Exchange Server 2003

*         Windows Vista, XP desktop system administrator

*         Network Administration experience

*         Familiar with Cisco layer 3 switches and routers 

*         VPN experience

*         Cisco Pix firewall 

*         Linux firewall support 

*         Internet Service Provider experience (DNS and Web Site Hosting) 

*         Experience with site-to-site VPN products (and their effects on Windows environments)
