SUMMARY / SCOPE OF POSITION 

We are seeking a talented IT administrator to be responsible for our San Jose facility who will be responsible for managing the local IT infrastructure for a fast-paced, chip development start-up company. Working in conjunction with the senior IT administrator located in the Westborough office, this candidate will be responsible for deploying and supporting a broad range of computer and local/wide area network support services.


Daily tasks include installing, configuring and maintaining Linux and Windows-based servers/desktops, administer user accounts, monitoring tape backup environment, monitor network infrastructure, problem determination, diagnosis, and repair, end user support, and provide input into the IT strategy and annual IT budget.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/REQUIRED EXPERIENCE 





	- A solid understanding of Linux/Unix- and Windows-based systems. 

	- Good knowledge of LAN/WAN configurations to include experience with routers & switches, Internet firewalls, and wireless technology. 

	- Proven track record in an end-user support role. 

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS 





	- BS in CS or EE preferred 

	- 3+ years relevant working experience in system administration with Linux/Unix- and Windows-based systems, preferably in a small, fast-paced environment. 

	- The successful candidate will have the ability and motivation to learn new technologies quickly, require some support and guidance, have effective communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse engineering team and senior management, and has good problem solving skills. 

	- Knowledge of the following Applications/Operating systems is a plus: 






Network Appliance ONTAP version 7.x
Aggregates, volumes, qtrees, and quotas



Veritas NetBackup
Installing Linux/Windows clients

Creating policies

Monitoring backups



Cisco IOS
Configuring VLANs

Modifying interfaces



Experience with EDA tools
Modifying license files



Scripting knowledge
PERL, shell scripting, etc.



Microsoft Active Directory
Managing user accounts

Adding systems to domains

Applying service packs
