Software Engineer - Linux Guru

Description

 

VMware's Product Infrastructure Team (PIT) is looking for Linux Gurus with
experience managing and developing software for a variety of distros.  You
will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of tasks from Linux user
level software to package creation and management in order to improve
VMware's products for Linux, OS X, and Solaris.

 

PIT is a group of engineers that work with a broad variety of technologies,
programming languages and platforms to solve problems for all of VMware's
products.  The team develops innovative features that span multiple products,
writes standalone applications and handles the packaging/installation
required to ship VMware products.  They are very passionate about their work
and are looking for similarly motivated and flexible software engineers. 

 

Requirements

* Involvement in Linux/Open Source community.

* Strong hands-on programming experience with C/C++ required.

* Experience with scripting languages (Perl, Python, shell) required.

* Proven track record with large Linux development projects.

* Knowledge of Linux packaging technologies (apt, rpm, deb, yum) desired.

* Familiarity with Linux application programming a plus.

* Good teamwork and communication skills. 

* Must be a self-starter and have passion for your work.

* Ability to multi-task and work under schedule pressure.
