PalmSource is hiring an experienced tester for development tools for
the Access Linux Platform. The work involves filing bugs in the
public GDB or Eclipse bug databases, as well as testing our
modifications and additions to these tools. This is an opportunity
to help bring about improvements to both of these open-source
projects, and to gain early exposure to the first truly integrated
commercial-grade platform for Linux-based smartphones. Here's the

Job Title: Debugger Tester

Location: Sunnyvale, CA
PalmSource makes Palm OS, the operating system that powers 40 million
mobile devices.
Our Quality Assurance Team is looking for a highly-motivated self-
starter to test the PalmSource debuggers, for use both by licensees
and by external developers.
Position Requirements:
Qualifications:
* Ability to work independently and with discipline.
* Strong desire to learn new technologies.
* Excellent knowledge of software testing methodology and techniques.
* Strong motivation for software quality.
* Ability to reduce requirements and specifications to simple and
transparent test cases, and to identify and report conflicting or
insufficient specifications.
Skills/Experience:
* Three years experience C/C++ software development environment.
* One or more years experience in a Software quality assurance
environment.
* Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills.
* Experience in integrated development and debugging environments,
preferably Eclipse.
* Experience with command-line debugging and development tools on
Unix/Linux, Macintosh, or Windows.
Communications Skills:
* Excellent English written communications skills.
* Adequate English oral communication skills.
* Ability to write a clear and concise defect report, and to write
clear code to automate regression for such defects.
* Ability to summarize the important subset of technical issues to a
non-technical audience.
Desired:
* Experience developing third-party software, preferably for handheld
organizers.
* Intermediate knowledge of Perl.
* Windows or Unix/Linux shell scripting.
* Unix or Linux experience.
* Experience using handheld organizers.
* Experience testing software for handheld organizers.
Education:
BSCS; MSCS desirable.
