System Admin / Engineering Director

Want to build and scale the most compelling Web 2.0 music community  
on the Internet? Get in on the ground floor with internet music  
industry veterans. Mog is going to be better for music than flickr  
was for photos.

You will lead a small group of talented developers to create Mog.  
This is a very hands-on position as you will also be responsible for  
building, scaling and running Mog’s collocation facility. You should  
be an expert at optimizing queries and scaling databases to millions  
of users. This position is for a high-energy, self-motivated individual.

Responsibilities
• Build, deploy and manage high-availability mysql database for  
millions of users
• Interface the database to other applications and third party APIs
• Test and profile database and site
• Build and deploy high-availability web site (with help of developers)
• Manage and mentor a geographically diverse functioning team of  
developers
• Define the technology roadmap
• Negotiate with system integrators and collocation facilities
• Monitor and manage servers 24x7
• System administration

Requirements
• 8+ Years Internet server management and development
• 4+ Years experience scaling high-availability web sites and/or  
applications
• 4+ Years database development and scaling (hands-on)
• 4+ Years experience configuring and deploying apache, php, etc.
• 3+ Years experience working with collocation facilities
• Experience profiling and optimizing databases (mysql preferred)
• Experience managing teams of geographically diverse developers
• Experience with Linux, mysql, apache, memcache, postfix and other  
open-source software
• Experience setting up monitoring
• Experience building and maintaining servers, RAID, installing  
server drivers, etc.
• Experience diagnosing problematic live servers
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with Ruby on Rails a plus
• Good time-management skills

Compensation: $100,000 - $150,000 per annum plus equity
