Senior SW Engineer - Platforms

Job Summary: 

Participate and drive in the design and implementation of future system
architectures as well as responsibility for development and testing of
kernel software in Data ONTAP.


Essential Functions: 

As a Senior Platform Software Engineer, the position includes
participating and driving the design and implementation of future system
architectures as well as responsibility for development and testing of
kernel software in Data ONTAP.  This position requires taking a role in
driving a high standard for quality in software design and
implementation, working closely with other engineering groups, and
reviewing the work of others.  As a platform software engineer, the
position entails developing key specifications, assessing task
requirements and participating in system level bring up and debug.


Requirements:

*        The individual must have broad experience in operating systems
internals, particularly in FreeBSD or other open source Unix-based
operating systems.

*        The individual should have expertise in computer architecture
and have demonstrated proficiency in platform and/or low-level kernel
software development.

*        Familiarity with AMD Opteron and/or other Intel based system
architectures is a definite plus.

*        Expertise with PCI bus architectures (including PCI Express)
and debugging them using bus analyzers is highly valued.

*        The individual must be expert in the C programming language and
be comfortable with assembly language programming. 

*        Experience in a technical leadership role on a successful
project is desired. 

*        To succeed in this position, the person should have good
communication skills and have a strong desire to ship a product.

 

Education: 

Bachelors or Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer
Engineering, or Computer Science with and emphasis in computer systems.
