ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Sun's Systems Group, x64 division (SG x64), is the innovation engine 
leveraging Sun's enterprise systems leadership into a top position in 
the x64 market. SG x64 develops hardware and software for scalable high 
performance, elegantly-designed, leading-edge x64-based systems. We 
design and integrate state-of-the-art, secure, and easy to use system 
management as a core component. Our systems are optimized for the 
leading Operating Systems: Sun Solaris, Linux and Microsoft Windows. SG 
x64 is a dynamic, flexible fast-paced group that thrives on unexpected 
innovation and challenging the status quo.

Essential Functions include:
* Lab planning, layout, and build-out
* Equipment purchasing and procurement
* Physical machine installation (lifting up to 50 lbs)
* Configuration (including network), setup, and specialized IT SW 
application/script design and development, when necessary
* Monitoring, and the ability to kickstart: backups, dhcp servers, twiki 
(servers), and general machines Candidate should have good leadership, 
communication, and organizational (predictable schedule) skills.
Candidate must have hands-on, pragmatic knowledge of computers

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
* IT knowledge of Windows
* Knowledge of databases and db configurations.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
Functional IT level knowledge/experience of Solaris and/or Linux, and 
related networks and labs.
This position requires good scripting skills (Bash,Perl,Python, Shell 
and or C).

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE:
Detailed knowledge of fundamental tools such as Linux and Solaris 
network conf tools, NIS, pxe, dhcp, subversion, or twiki.
This position may vary between an IT Network Technologist 4 or 5 (E-09 
or E-10) depending on the experience of the candidate.

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 7+

MINIMUM LEVEL OF EDUCATION: B.S. or equivalent experience

FIELD OF STUDY: EE/CSE/CS
