Linux Kernel Engineer

San Mateo, CA - 
        
HotLinuxJobs is searching for a Linux Kernel Engineer to join a growing
kernel group in San Mateo. The responsibilities of this position are as
follows:
        
* Enhance the kernel and OS to support exciting new features 
* Evaluate system performance on variety of hardware platforms and under
various workloads 
* Track, evaluate, and integrate development from the open source
community. 
        
The successful applicant will have the following experience:
        
* Deep expertise in the design, implementation, and ongoing development
roadmap of the Linux kernel is a must. 
* At least two years kernel, preferably Linux, development experience.
2.6 kernel experience preferred
* Kernel-level expertise in at least two of the following: IP
networking, SMP, performance analysis, file systems, or resource
management. 
* Must be able to develop/build/debug Linux kernels independently
* Very good understanding of Linux Operating System and its run-time
environment
* Very good understanding of run-time libraries
* Understanding of Debian packaging architecture and tools will be a big
plus
* Fluency in C and familiarity with x86 assembly code is expected, as
are solid written and verbal communications skills. 
* Experience with design and architecture of mid- to large-sized
software projects. 
* BSCS degree or equivalent, MSCS preferred.
