Senior Firmware / Software Test Engineer

  

 

Reporting to the test engineering group, candidate will have responsibility for establishing and designing firmware & software regression test systems.  Will perform validation testing of embedded product designs and software interfaces, working cooperatively with product design teams.   

 

Job Responsibilities
·         Requirements analysis.  Must be able to effectively reduce system and module specifications into written FW / SW verification requirements.  This includes the development of test system architecture and functional requirements, validation plans, detailed specifications, etc.

·         Establish firmware / software validation test methodologies

·         Design test systems for regression testing of end products as "black boxes" as well as sub-modules

·         Perform / support validation testing of new products & new firmware / software releases including:

o        Test hardware with embedded firmware and DSP code

o        Test products with embedded Windows CE

o        Test software applications based on Linux, Java, Java Desktop, and Windows

·         Design test systems for efficient and flexible use by self and others

·         Assist FW & SW engineers during debug efforts to achieve full product functionality and to meet targeted test coverage

·         Develop regression tests to validate other product test systems

·         Document test system designs and procedures, and participate in design reviews in accordance with department development process and company quality standards

·         Provide support, maintenance, and user training for the systems developed

 

 Relevant Experience & Education

·         5 years of software & firmware design experience 

·         Minimum of 3 years firmware and software validation experience

·         Expert in Linux and Windows operating systems

·         Expert in C, Visual Studio 6, Visual Studio.NET, Java and Java Desktop code development

·         Proficient with Windows CE

·         Ability to set up and operate logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and other common laboratory equipment

·         Will be supported by RF / mixed-signal hardware test engineers, but hardware design and/or test engineering experience is a strong plus 

·         Strong oral and written communication skills

·         Disciplined approach to own work and interactions with others is essential

·         Self starter & ability to work in a team environment as an individual contributor

·         Track record of planning and delivering own work completely and on time

BSEE or BSCS degree minimum
