Details on Position         : 
The Database Engineer is a senior level engineer responsible for the
design of logical and physical database models. The candidate will
support development efforts for one or multiple diverse types of large
database systems. Perform requirements analysis, data modeling, and
database engineering functions for relational database system(s). The
candidate needs to have in-depth knowledge of database technologies with
software applications. 
This position requires experience with full life-cycle database
development including developing DDL, implementing databases, tuning
databases and related software applications, testing, configuration
management of database objects, implementing database changes, and
providing operational support to databases. In this position, the
candidate must be able to identify and resolve problems in databases
with a minimum of guidance and direction, and be familiar with software
development methods
Required Skills:
Work with Architects to develop logical schemas of existing or new
Participate in formulating and implementing database architecture,
database standards, database policies, etc. 
Interact with the developers, and technical departments to promote
information sharing. 
Improve data management and access through the use of existing and new
methods, tools, and technologies. 
Mentor application team members in best practices and use of new DBMS
Assist application team members with applying standards and resolving
integration issues. 
Assist application team members in prototyping and optimizing queries. 
Assist application team members in designing the database storage
Following standards, write, maintain and document scripts needed in
support of applications. 
Identify application performance bottlenecks and recommend resolution
The Database engineer is a key member of the operations staff with
responsibility for proper functioning of all components of Our Client
production sites focusing on database performance and availability. The
DBA has primary responsibility for all monitoring and site tools as well
as first and second tier resolution of production issues. Additionally
the successful candidate will be well versed in operational processes
and procedures supporting a mission critical 24x7 production environment
and will be able to work quickly under process to execute actions
required to maintain site availability and performance. Responsibilities

. Monitor database and systems utilization to drive troubleshooting and
. First and second tier resolution of production issues and alerts 
. Understanding of all components of the Our Client site infrastructure
in order to analyze impact of alarms and other system messages 
. Work with external teams to diagnose complex problems and drive
. Utilize toolset to diagnose and resolve production issues. 
. Take corrective action for operational problems 
. Complete tasks required to maintain service levels and availability of
all site features and functions
. BS in technical field or equivalent experience
. Minimum six years hands on knowledge of Oracle in a production
. Minimum four years experience working in 24x7 environment
. Experience troubleshooting and tuning Oracle in a production
. Experience with very large production databases (200 GB+)
. Understanding of multi-tier architectures from a conceptual level
. Operational environments with a DBA background is essential for this
job, ideally OCP certification
. Experience with database replication technology, preferably Shareplex
. Proven problem solving skills with an emphasis on quick problem
. Ability to work on many tasks simultaneously in a high-pressure
. Mid-level Unix system administration skills
. Basic LAN and WAN network knowledge
. Excellent written and oral communication skills
