System Engineer, Checkout TV Team

Premier Retail Networks (www.prn.com) is the leading company in the
fast growing retail video and digital signage market.  PRN is seeking
an system engineer with cross-platform expertise.   Our platform uses
Linux (Debian and Red Hat Enterprise Server) and Windows) elements
and employs multiple system technologies, including VSAT satellite IP
networking, multicast file transfers, database, web and java
application servers, streaming media (video over IP), network
security, and advanced I/O busses like PCI-Express.  Video
technologies we use include digital video (ATSC/8VSB digital RF
video), analog NTSC RF video modulation, VGA distribution grids,
traditional NTSC composite and component baseband video, MPEG-1 and
MPEG-2 standard and high definition video.  The ideal candidate would
have some experience in MPEG-4 technologies as well.

This position requires a candidate with extremely strong networking
and system administration skills and who is comfortable building up a
server from the component level (motherboard/drives/RAM/etc).  Some
degree of scripting is essential, in either bash or perl.  Experience
with Windows as well as Linux is mandatory, though our emphasis is on
strong foundations in the underlying technology.


ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS: 

Education and Experience: 

* 5+ years experience with network administration.  VSAT experience 
  a big plus
* Expert level understanding of IP networking.  This is absolutely 
  mandatory
* 5+ years experience administering Linux systems, preferably
Debian-based
* 5+ years experience administering Windows$(1 ((BNT/2000) systems
* 3+ years experience with the Cygwin environment under Windows
* 2+ years experience perl and/or bash scripting
* Decent understanding of XML, Web Services, and HTTP technologies
* Above average network and host security knowledge.  CISSP 
  certification a big plus
* Substantial experience building out and configuring servers from 
  components
* Substantial experience with live 24x7 systems
* Reasonable experience with SNMP technologies
* Experience with using CVS or similar source code control systems
