Job Objective

To be a major contributor to an Engineering team working on a cutting
edge product used by millions of people daily. Technologies include
Linux, Windows, MPEG audio and video, Animation, Graphics, Networking,
Databases, x86-based Hardware. You would be responsible for the
design, prototyping, development and production release of software
and/or hardware systems encompassing the company's cutting edge
platform. You will provide technical leadership to other departments
and enhance deployed systems to improve stability, functionality,
serviceability and to drive the reduction of total cost of ownership.
Essential Job Functions

    * Develop prototype configurations of new technology to
      demonstrate feasibility of systems designs.
    * Recommend and specify hardware platform, OS and network
      configurations based on Marketing and customer requirements.
    * Work with Marketing and Product Development to research and
      specify new technology and platforms meeting customer
      requirements.
    * Select and integrate 3rd-party technologies into our development
      platform.
    * Develop configuration and installation utilities for new
      systems.
    * Support and troubleshoot currently deployed systems.
    * Perform other job-related duties and work on special projects as
      required.

Essential Job Requirements
Education and Experience

    * 4-year Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from a college or
      university, or equivalent work related experience.
    * Five or more years related experience in a computer system
      development/release environment or custom solutions environment,
      preferably involving unusual hardware and proprietary or
      open-source drivers.
    * Strong hands-on experience with Windows OS'es, Linux and
      Unix-based operating systems, including a detailed understanding
      of system administration and file system technologies and
      performance.
    * Strong hands-on experience with PC-based hardware architectures;
      experience in diagnosing and resolving hardware problems.
    * Strong knowledge of inter-networking LAN/WAN technologies,
      preferably including network security and performance.
    * Scripting experience with PERL/Python/shell programming (e.g.,
      csh, bash), especially as used in systems integrations.
    * Experience with video and audio desired, especially RF
      technologies.
    * Experience with Satellite Network systems desired.
    * Some programming experience desired (C,C++,Java)

    * A strong desire to learn and excel in new technologies.
    * Must be self-motivated and a problem-solver.
    * Good communications skills, both verbal and written.
    * A team player.
    * Able to formulate and execute solutions based on current and
    * evolving technologies.
    * Highly organized. Oriented to schedules, deadlines and details.
